Frequently asked questions

How can I get your dice?

We have a few options:

  • Shop Restocks - dice go quick. If dice are not displayed, I currently don't have any dice in stock and I’m working on building inventory for the next restock. The time and date of the next restock will be will be announced ahead of time on social media. Follow my Instagram and Twitter for updates on upcoming sales!

  • Commissions - sometimes I offer special commission dice where we work together to bring your concept to life. Currently I’m not taking any commissions at the moment, but as soon as I am able to, I’ll open limited slots and make an announcement beforehand.

  • Auctions - I host the occasional auction over on my Patreon. They can range anywhere from a dice mold, a D20, a 7pc set, and more.

  • Giveaways - enter my occasional giveaways! Keep an eye out on my Instagram @khopper.dice.

How do shop restocks work?

Every 2 months I work on creating enough dice for a restock. It averages to about 12 sets per restock with a couple other items. I will announce on my social media (Instagram and Twitter mostly) the date and time of the next restock.

A day or so before the sale I'll have the listings of what will be in the restock up on my Shop page to preview. There will be no quantities at this time and will show up as “Sold Out”. This gives you an opportunity to look through what will be sold without the pressure of an active restock in progress. An hour before the sale, this preview will close and my shop will reflect nothing in stock until the exact time of the restock when all items auto populate.

If you're very intent to get a set during a restock, I highly recommend you check out my Patreon for early access benefits and more.

How much gold are your dice worth? (What are your prices?)

Prices vary on the set and their complexity. My 7pc polyhedral sets currently range from $235-$250, and my D20 singles are around $65.

Are you currently taking commissions?

Commissions prices vary depending on the complexity of the design. Since I work full-time for a regular day job, I don’t have much time at the moment to take on commissions. When I do, I’ll announce it beforehand, though there will be a very limited amount of slots available. Due to the time it takes to craft a well made, custom set, expect the prices to be at least double my standard shop set rate.

How much is shipping?

We ship via USPS First-Class Mail.

  • United States: $7

  • International: $17-20

Are your dice balanced?

Most handmade dice are fairly balanced; however, a majority of dice - including those you get from a manufacture - are not 100% balanced. Different colors in your favorite sets weigh differently, however it's at such a minuscule amount that it won't make a difference to your rolls. At the end of the day, these dice are art; usable art, but art nonetheless, and therefore come with human error. I do my best to keep my dice balanced, but inclusions, decorative elements, and the general process of dice made by humans make it impossible to guarantee perfect balance. However, they are suitable for your casual D&D play. Check with your DM if you are unsure (roll Persuasion)!

How do you gain proficiency in dice-making? (How do I make dice?)

Dice-making is a time and gold (re: money!) consuming investment… but totally worth it! I recommend you check out the Dice Making Discoveries group on FaceBook. They are a wonderful community with lots of information. Please be sure to read their rules thoroughly and be respectful of the craft.

There are various dice makers who create YouTube tutorials as well (I hope to be one soon!). Give “dice making” a search and go crazy. If you have any specific questions, reach out! I will do my best to answer. I love to chat about shiny click-clacks.

What are they made out of?

Dice are mined from the deep recesses of the Resin Mountain. (Just kidding. It’s Resin.)

What tavern does the artist reside in? (Where are you shipping from?)

The Bard is based in Southern California!

How do I finish your raw sets?

I finish my dice with the following steps: Sanding, Polishing, and Inking. It is important that you use the proper safety equipment when working with resin. Please use gloves and a respirator mask, staying in a well ventilated area. This is a time consuming process so don't expect instant results. It can take us up to 4 to 5 hours for some sets, and that's after I’ve had practice.

  • Sanding : Start with 2000 grit sandpaper and move onto polishing papers. I recommend using Zona polishing papers (available on Amazon). Start from one paper and move to the next per the packages instructions. Place the paper on a solid flat surface (a mirror or pane of glass would work best). Wet the paper and move the side of the dice you're working on in circles, keeping even pressure. Do this until the side looks completely matte. Move on to the next paper until the scratches are buffed out and you're left with an even shine. Repeat until all sides are completed. Clean out the sanding dust from the numbers by using a Sonic Cleaner or using a disposable toothbrush (not one you're using) and brush out the dust under water. Using this method removes the "polishing" step as the papers polish as they go.

  • Polishing : Using the Zona papers will polish your dice as you go. For an extra shine, I recommend using PerfectIt (find it on Amazon) and apply it to the white Zona paper, using it like you would the water when wet sanding. Use a microfiber cloth to buff out the sides and remove fingerprints for a lovely shine.

  • Inking : Acrylic ink works best we found, and you can find them in a variety of colors at any craft store in the paint section. I use a small paint brush and apply the ink over the numbers (it will get onto the surface of the dice). Use your finger, paper towel, or alcohol wipe (the best in our opinion) to wipe the excess paint off. Let dry before you clean off the paint left behind. I use alcohol wipes to get the paint off the dice before giving the dice a final buff with a microfiber cloth.

How can I get in touch with you?

Returns & Refunds

Unfortunately, at this time I do not offer any returns or refunds. If your package arrives damaged, is lost, or you are not pleased with your click-clacks, please reach out to me and I will see what I can do.  Please keep in mind that as handmade products, there may be small scratches or marks that are likely to show up due to the casting process. This adds to the charm of the handmade item. I do our best to remove them, but as I mentioned before I are only human. Additionally, I am a one woman operation operating at the smallest idea of a small business, so please allow time to receive an answer should you submit a question.
